Breve premessa

Storica giornata della memoria presso la Sala Chimirri.

Teste l'amico Sergio Pelaia, a un Damiani commosso dona,
Mimmo Stirparo, a ricordo, targa concepita dal grande maestro,
orafo Michele Affidato.

Ma ancora sorprese che testimoniano una  giornata che non  si  risparmia in generosità, altruismo, nel manifestare dare,  emozioni volontà d'unione "la Serra di li nani" sembra mai esistita. Basta sapere osservare. Le Associazioni di volontariato, gli scouts, un "Otello" delle foto paterne, come il dott. Luciano Calabretta, che ne da una parte al fotografo Bruno Tripodi. Ricordo incredulo di aver notato, mi ha colpito non poco, un noto e apprezzato  Storico con carattere riservato e serio ai limiti del serioso; sembrava avesse trentanni in meno.

PICCHI   SUPIRAMMA LI VINTI POISJI                                             

 Perché ho, grazie a Voi, composto oltre venti poesie             

 because, thanks to you, we composed more than 20 poems

CHI FURU ASSAI APPRIZZATI                                                              

 Che sono state assai apprezzate                

 that were much appreciated                                                                                                 E, CU LI PRIVISIUONI E LU LIBRU DI ??PINSATI??    

 e, congiuntamente, alle previsioni e al libro di ??PINSATI??                                              and in conjunction with my predictions and my book

NATRU MONUMENTU”, FURU GIUDICATI (Stirparo)          

  il tutto è stato giudicato un altro Monumento al Pelaggi

 all of which was considered to be another Monument to the great Pelagi

MPRIMA GRIDARU, ALLARMI:                                                       

  Inizialmente si sono allarmati.

E' NU PROGRAMMA ELETTORALE. MA E' CIVILI

 E’ un programma elettorale (altra lista). Ma è civile

QUANDU CAPISCIRU DISSARU: L'USAMU   PO' SIRVIRI     

 dopo aver capito, dissero usiamolo è utile

MU FA BUONU, LU SISTEMA, LU VIVIRI CIVILI…                        

  per un sistema valido, per la convivenza civile.

  Sarebbe bello se tutto iniziasse il 21 maggio

CA, PI LA STUORIA, GOVIERNU E OPPOSIZIUONI,                      

 Giorno in cui, per la storia di Serra, i Contendenti

 the day upon which, in the history of Serra San Bruno, those who

ALLA SALA CHIMIRRI, D’ AMICI, S’ ABBRAZZARU

 nella sala Chimirri si sono abbracciati da  amici                    

attended in the Chimirri room embraced as friends.

SCRISSI LI POISII, PI CUOMU LI DITTASTIVU.                       

 ho scritto le poesie  ascoltando  quanto mi avete dettato.

E MU TROVA, CU LI LEJA, NA MURALI A OGNI  ETA'   

Perché il lettore di ogni età possa trovarci una morale 

 so that every reader of any age can find a moral.

LI CUNSIGGHI VUOSTRI, L’ AZZICCAVI   TUTTI DHA’     

 i vostri consigli li ho stipati tutti nelle poesie

 your thoughts were incorporated into each poem

TINNAMU   FIDI ALLA PAROLA DATA,

    abbiamo tenuto fede agli impegni.

 in doing so we fulfilled our duty

CU LU MONUMENTU E L'ANURANZA,                                        

 per il  monumento  al cimitero e, per la manifestazione

NDI DISPIACIU MA, CHI PUTIAMU FARI, SI ALLA                    

 ci è dispiaciuto che a diversi serresi

 which sadly upset some Serrese

SERRA DI LI NANI, NCI DOLIU,  LA PANSA??                                

 l’iniziativa abbia dato fastidio.

 NUI CARU MASTRU, PUTIMU CRITICARI,      

 noi caro Maestro possiamo criticare

 our dear maestro we can criticize

LI PULITICI, SU FORTI, NDI FANNU PARRARI                           

 i politici, furbi, ci fanno parlare per leggerci il pensiero

 the cunning politicians who make us speak in order to read our thoughts

MA SI PI DISGRAZIA, FANNU   ''PIGNA” PASSIVA

 sarebbe una  disgrazia se   si limitassero alla sola  ubbidienza.

It would be a tragedy if these politicians limited themselves to simply obeying without representing

LA GUERRA CA'VIMU E LESODU   NDI' PONNU CANCILLARI.                  

 La guerra con la Libia, “L’ esodo?” ci estingueranno

 As an example the war with Libya could be our end

VUI, ALLI TIEMPI CHI SCRIVISTIVU, VI PUTIAVU                

 quando eravate voi a scrivere vi potevate solo lamentare

 when you were writing you could only lament

LAMINTARI, NO CIERTU SUGGIRIRI O CRITICARI

 era impensabile a quei tempi, criticare, proporre o suggerire

 it was unthinkable at those times to criticize,offer, or suggest

PIRCIO' MI PISARU, “LI CUNSINSIGGHI VUOSTRI,”         

 è difficile capire, l’arguzia, leggervi

 it was difficult to understand your wit

EPPI MU    LI  CIERCU E,  MU LI SCIPPU                                 

 sono stato costretto a cercare i consigli estorcendoli

 I was forced to dig very deep in order to understand your advice

CUOMU LU GRANITU,  SUTTA  TERRA…                                 

  come il granito che strappavate alla terra.

 like the granite that you dug from the  Earth.

E, CUOMU LU FICANDIANU DI MUNDARI.                              

E con la   prudenza necessaria a sbucciare un fico d’India,   

 and with the dexterity necessary to peel a prickly pear

PICCHISSU RIPITISTIVU, FINU ALLA BARA

Ossessivamente, fino alla morte, avete sostenuto: 

as you persistently did your death

 “LU MISTIERI SARROBBA E NO S'IMPARA”                                

  “”il mestiere si ruba non s’insegna”

 A skill must be stolen not learned

NDI DUNASTIVU, GRANDI VIERITA'                                      

 CI avete fatto dono di grandi importanti verità

 you made us aware of great truths

MA NUI NON LI APPRIZZAMU, NE LI  CANUSCIMU , 

Ma noi, non le apprezziamo, non le conosciamo

 but we don't understand them or appreciate them

NO  L I J M U, AVIMU  TANTU  E NO  LU MIERITAMU,

 non leggiamo, abbiamo risorse, ricchezze,   non le meritiamo 

 we don't read, we don't have the resources, we don't have the riches,  and we don't deserve them

MA, NA COSA LA VOTA, LU PIRDIMU,                                            

  e una cosa per volta perdiamo tutto ciò che abbiamo

 now we lose one thing at a tim

SUPA A TUTTI LI CUOSI, SIMU “L'ESPERTU”                                      

 suogni settore vantiamo competenza specifica  elevata

 and everything we brag about being experts

MA SI FRABICAMU,  NCIGNAMU  DI LU  TETTU.                                      

 che se fabbrichiamo una casa la cominciamo dal tetto

 that if we build a house we start with the roof

PI LU PATTU, DI LU 2014, MO' VI CUNTU TUTTU.                      

 Per il patto, 11/11/ 2014, ora devo dirvi tutto.

 Abbiamo cercato soldi e intellettuali tra tuttti i serresi

NU PULITICU DI RAZZA,  LA NCICLOPIDIA

un politico di razza, l’enciclopedia

PACIENZA.! MASTRU, MO’ VI STIMU CCHIU’DI PRIMA  

Pazienza! Caro maestro, ora vi stimo di più di prima
